2. Organization

  • Beginning, middle and end
  • Introduction grabs audience's attention
  • Uses a pattern to organize thoughts such as compare/contrast or point by point
  • Ending satisfies questions and brings presentation to a close

 

3. Voice

  • Personality comes through
  • Presentation is unique
  • Interest in topic is obvious

 

4. Word Choice

  • Uses descriptive words to create vivid images
  • Uses vocabulary specific to the topic

 

5. Fluency

  • Speaks clearly
  • Pronounces vocabulary accurately
  • Speaks loudly enough to be understood
  • Speaking rate makes it easy to absorb information
  • Avoids using filler words(um..., uh...)
  • Doesn't overly depend on notes

 

6. Conventions

  • Accurate spelling
  • Words used correctly
  • Punctuation and capitalization

 

7. Presentation

  • Delivery is confident: posture, eye contact, facial expression, enthusiasm
  • Slides are easy to read from a distance
  • Slides are uncluttered
  • Pictures are used to highlight ideas
  • Avoids distracting graphics, transitions and animations
