LOST AND FOUND
We urge you to mark all lunch boxes and articles of clothing your child might have at school. The end of each year
finds us with many unclaimed articles, which could have been returned if properly marked. It is suggested that
articles be marked with first and last names. The lost and found box is located downstairs by the music room.

MUSIC PROGRAM
Our music specialist, Mrs. Wood, is at Silver Beach every week. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 have two 30-minute
periods of instruction. The music program for grades K, 1, and 2 is provided by the classroom teacher on a regular
weekly basis. Music instruction includes:
developing vocal music skills
learning various musical pieces
recognizing and reproducing rhythms
identifying standard instruments
reading musical notation
playing classroom instruments
(melody bells, Autoharp, rhythm instruments)
and learning about the history of music
A beginning strings program (viola, violin, cello) is available for fifth grade students. The students meet twice
a week for 45 minutes. Mrs. Diaz teaches this class.
PARKING
There are 2 spaces in the main parking lot designated "visitor". ALL NUMBERED SPOTS ARE RESERVED FOR
STAFF. You may find parking along Academy St. or you may park in the drop off area between 9:00am and 2:00pm only.
PERSONAL POSSESSIONS
We discourage children from bringing personal possessions or extra money to school unless requested to do so by
the teacher or a staff member. This includes any and all game systems.
PETS
Dogs, no matter how friendly and gentle, are a potential problem on a playground full of children. Please help
us to ensure the safety of the children by keeping dogs at home.
Dogs that frequently appear at school will be reported to the Humane Society.
Teacher approval should be sought before bringing a pet to school. Pets cannot be brought to school on the school
bus. Dogs are required to be accompanied by an adult when they are brought to school.
