Beginning in 1998, the Silver Beach Library has been open one day per week, for two hours, in the summer. This is a great opportunity for students and parents to check out books and use the computers during the "lazy days" of summer. It is a way for kids to get their hands on some of the more popular books that they have to wait for during the school year. And most importantly, it is motivation to keep reading during our well needed vacation. New students are encouraged to attend and benefit by getting to know the school before they start in the Fall.

Reading incentives are provided by Barnes and Noble and by our SBEA. And this year many of our teachers came and read to the students at our "silver beach".
This past summer, we checked out over 1,200 books! We had 427 parent and student visits. Each year the number of participants has grown!
